Gone are the days of designers being mostly concerned with desk top publishing, as a designer today you need to be able deliver work proficiently across a huge variety of platforms. Working as a freelancer for many years it's sink or swim and this means evolving pretty quickly!
As a result I've become a design multi-tool, as comfortable making video and motion graphics as I am creating digital banners or iterating wireframes for complex UI, while working alongside a team of developers on initial concepts, all the way through to final production. All while using research-led and informed UX principles!
Over my journey I've come to understand and appreciate the true value of design, how best to apply it and the rewarding creative process behind it.
